[1753] Marandohori Traditional Mill Panorama
Ideal for nature lovers and privacy seekers, this restored mill converted to a summer residence, is filled with possibilities and is seeking the next owner with the vision and fantasy to use it as a yoga retreat, a glamping or just a holiday hideaway
Step into a world of complete peace and quiet in an idyllic meditteranean setting between the lucid waters of the Ionian Sea and the evergreen rolling hills.
The over a century-old mill stands proudly in the middle of an all-around fenced land of 11.744 m2, encompassing the top of the hill and shaped by man-made terraces covered by old olive trees. The additional build ability of 228 m² offered, can round out this unique property.
This cylindrical tower of massive stonework has been erected in the mid of 19th century and restored during 90’s with great respect to the traditional Greek architecture and the preservation of harmony with the surrounding landscape. The conversion to residence, assigned to a German architect specialized in mediterranean and ecological architecture, accomplished with functional elements made of natural materials and simple lines, keeping true to the exterior appearance.
The interior space of 40 m² extends over three levels, which are crossed by a spiral stone staircase. The ingenious architectural use of horizontal beams in the shape of the mill's helix, which support the ceilings and the roof, adds original charme and at the same time allows the space to be free of pillars. Through the arched door you find the ground floor, which opens directly into the kitchen and a small dining area, while the second level is configured as a bedroom with bunk beds. The upper level hosts the master bedroom, where the walls have been replaced by large windows, through which the enchanting 360ﹾ views to the gulf of Vasiliki, the green hills and even the islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca, when the atmosphere is clear, are reign over.
The wrap-around porch or the hidden from the eye sitting areas, that can be discovered through small paths, are perfect to unwind in privacy and fall in love with nature, while gazing the captivating landscape. Adjacent to the mill there is a small shed, used as a storage. A few meters down you can find the open-air bathroom, a small wooden kiosk resembling the mill, where from its large window, you can enjoy the unobstructed views while having your shower.
The close proximity within a few minutes’ drive from the village of Marandohori, the harbour of Sivota, the beloved bay of Ammouso and the wind-surfers bay of Vasiliki render this unique property perfect as a holiday haven or an investment opportunity.
